You might be wondering who came up with the idea for Sweatshop hot yoga and Oconomowoc yoga. While get ready for a long story! Fasten your seatbelt and we will take you on a little bit of a ride to talk about how we got here. Christina Limbach is the owner and founder of sweat shop hot yoga. One thing I want you to know is that you don’t need to be an experienced Yogi or be perfectly in shape or even freakishly flexible in order to do yoga. At least I really really hope that is true because I myself am none of those things. Oconomowoc yoga came to be in quite a roundabout way. I grew up not being able to play sports for the life of me. I’m the youngest of two siblings and I can tell you I definitely never got any of the benefits of being the youngest child. While we were growing up, our Dad made us play softball during the Spring and Summer months and if we didn’t play sports our alternative was to pick weeds and the driveway for all of the hours that we would have been at sports practice or game. I’m not sure what the lesson here was that our dad was trying us was to make sure we were good at softball and baseball or if he was trying to teach us to never quit but only one of those lessons stuck with me. I hate to spoil the surprise but it’s definitely not that I became good at softball.
My next option was Sports interaction came in fifth grade when I thought it would be cool to join the basketball team. That was a bad call on my part. I only touched the ball once during a game throughout the whole season. Yes, you read that right, ONE TIME. Needless to say I decided not to play basketball the following year. Finally in high school I found track and field along with cross country and it dawned on me or I had a little bit of a revelation and that I could actually be good at something sports-related. Just tell me to run, Forest, run and I’m your girl. I went on in track to run a few different mid-distance races and in cross-country I think we did maybe two miles in the girls races. I was actually pretty decent and I went to Regionals a few times and made it to State in track. Track was was kind of my jam. After high school, I went on to lifting weights and continuing to run 4 to 5, 3K races a month. If you ask me why I did that I really couldn’t tell you other than that I was crazy and I liked (still do) winning. Outside of sports I was a full-time student and a full-time human resources employee and I went to school for business management. I continued to excel in my corporate career and came to find that as long as you are willing to put in the work and you are resourceful and treat other people with respect there really are limitless opportunities. So working in the corporate world had been fun, I moved into an executive position when I wasb I believe 27 and have enjoyed my time in Corporate America. However there’s also something to say about going out on your own, trying something new and putting in that hard work again in order to be successful. So the idea for Oconomowoc yoga really came from my own desire to do yoga. Back in 2015 I took my very first yoga class and then took quite a few years off and then back in 2018 I started doing yoga on a regular basis and making it a part of my weekly routine. I still remember one of my friends invited me to my very first hot yoga class and I thought that would be just a little bit of stretching in a warm room, but boy was I wrong. Hot Yoga in a 95 degree is no joke! But, I felt awesome afterwards after sweating bucket loads on my mat in my first hot yoga class I felt phenomenal and ever since then I was hooked on hot yoga. So Oconomowoc yoga came to be because I wanted to solve my own challenge which is that we live in Oconomowoc Wisconsin and there are no hot yoga studios within probably a 30-minute ride from here so selfishly I wanted to create an environment where it was close to home and I could come to a nice clean fresh studio and enjoy my hot yoga classes without having to make an hour-long round trip for an hour class. I remember saying it to my boyfriend one day that I wanted to start my own business we were sitting down at the dinner table and I kind of just blurted it out after having thought about it in my head for probably about 3 months. And from there on the idea just picked up steam and I remember one day we were talking about potential names for the studio and he joked that we would call it the sweat shop because of it being hot. His joke, like most of his jokes, I didn’t really find to be too funny so it took me a while to come around to the idea for Oconomowoc yoga and the name he came up with really started to grow on me. So I decided to incorporate the business and we started looking at places and spaces to rent for the studio and then as many of you know the covid-19 pandemic hit which has slowed a lot of things down in the process but we started to offer actually free online classes for anybody who’s interested in Oconomowoc yoga and we have every intention of hitting the ground running when life returns to hopefully somewhat of the normal that we are used to. I’m so excited to create an Oconomowoc yoga experience for the local community in Oconomowoc to experience hot yoga and I can’t wait for you to come check it out and see what it’s all about. I know that you’ll fall in love with it just like I did and really enjoy the physical and mental benefits. Yoga has helped me improve my mind, body and soul and I know that you will also find that through taking our Oconomowoc yoga classes.
